The men's volleyball season is underway and on Thursday night, No. 10 Loyola-Chicago will host No. 7 BYU at Gentile Arena. The Ramblers are currently 1-3 this season and are on a two-game losing streak after dropping both matches to No. 11 Stanford earlier this week. The first match against the Cardinal resulted in a straight set defeat, but the Ramblers pushed the second match to five sets, but ultimately lost. Miller Trubey led the Loyola-Chicago offense on Monday with 11 kills on 17 swings with support from Ryan McElligott, who provided 46 assists on the night. Jake Read led the team defensively with six digs to try and hold off Stanford.

The Cougars are undefeated so far this season, but have only played two matches so far. On Friday and Saturday, BYU hosted Ball State and won both matches in straight sets. In Saturday's series finale Patrick Rogers led the offense with nine kills, while Aaron Hernandez finished right behind him with eight kills. Lucas Machado provided 26 assists to the hitters, while Lukas Pytlak and Rogers each topped the stat sheet for digs with five apiece.
The last time Loyola-Chicago and BYU played each other dates back to the 2020 season and BYU earned a 3-1 road win.
